JOB SUMMARY

The auditor oversees the preparation of self-audits for Loan Administration and Mortgage Operations. The auditor will be responsible for performing the self-audits related to the following regulations:  CRA, HMDA, Reg. B Denials, Reg. B Right to Receive an Appraisal, Reg. Z, and Flood.   The auditor will prepare the audits monthly and report to the Compliance Officer the findings quarterly.  The auditor will work closely with the Compliance Officer to assure a good understanding of the regulations in order to be able to communicate with the lending staff information needed to complete his work.  


ESSENTIAL DUTIES


The duties listed below may not include all responsibilities that the person in this role may be asked to perform. Incumbent may be required to perform other related duties as assigned.


1. Work closely with the bank’s Compliance Officer to keep abreast of, monitor, analyze, and interpret regulatory and policy changes as they relate to regulations impacting commercial, real estate, consumer and mortgage lending.  
2. Communicate such information to affected personnel, and make recommendations for appropriate actions necessary to maintain compliance. 
3. Work closely with the loan administration personnel to keep them up to date on regulatory changes.
4. Work closely with the loan administration personnel to remedy audit results as needed.
5. Work closely with the Loan Administration Manager regarding negative findings that may affect their area of operations.
6. Assist the Compliance Officer in developing forms and reports to assure timely reporting of self-audits.
7. Conduct or assists in compliance-related monitoring procedures to ensure all risks are identified, controls are effective and policies complied with. 
8. Work closely with the Loan Administration Manager to provide input to ensure effective monitoring, guidance and assistance to facilitate timely corrective action as necessary.
9. Conduct transactional testing for each respective regulation as scheduled to detect any weaknesses in process or violations of law.  
10. Review and test procedures for general operation compliance of the department to prevent violations of law or regulatory requirements.
11. Conduct special audits as directed by the Compliance Officer.
12. Periodically test management’s corrective action to validate completeness.    




QUALIFICATIONS


These specifications are general guidelines based on the minimum experience normally considered essential to the satisfactory performance of this position. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required to perform the position in a satisfactory manner. Individual abilities may result in some deviation from these guidelines.


• High school diploma or associates certificate from college or technical school; or three years related experience and/or training; or the equivalent combination of education and experience.  Work related experience should consist of a credit or loan processing background.  Educational experience, through in-house training sessions, formal school or financial industry related curriculum, should be business or financial industry related.
• Basic level of work experience, knowledge and training in all loan production activities and terminology.
• Basic knowledge of related state and federal banking compliance regulations, and other Bank lending policies.
• Strong knowledge of lending consumer protection rules and regulations including: truth in lending act, real estate settlement procedures act, equal credit opportunity act, flood disaster protection act, home mortgage disclosure act, community reinvestment act and fair lending;
