Important Information about Your INB Debit Card

Maintaining the security of your accounts and personal information is not only our obligation, it is a top priority to us at Inter National Bank (INB). With this in mind, there are times and situations that require we take actions in the best interest of our customers.

A recent industry spike in suspicious debit card transactions, and as a precaution against any possible fraudulent activity, INB is currently blocking and declining signature-based transactions over a specific dollar amount in certain retail outlets and countries.

This block will only apply when your debit card is processed as a credit transaction (i. e. when your PIN number is not required to complete the transaction) for purchases over $200 at any of the following types of retail stores:

  • Discount stores (i.e. Wal-Mart)
  • Drug Stores and Pharmacies (i. e. Walgreens)
  • Grocery Stores and Supermarkets
  • Office Supply Stores
  • Electronic Sales (i.e. Apple)

In many cases, the merchants listed above automatically process debit card transactions as PIN-based. However, in the event that the transaction is processed above the stated limit as a signature based transaction, it will get declined. We urge you to communicate the aforementioned to the merchant to ensure that your transactions are processed as Pin-based and avoid denials.

Blocks placed on certain countries will prevent any signature or PIN-based transactions from going through. Some of the countries that are in effect within this block include but are not limited to:

  • France
  • Spain
  • Peru
  • Columbia
  • Hong Kong
  • Dominican Republic
  • Canada

We urge you to contact our customer service department at 956-664-8401 if you are traveling to any of these areas so your card can be unblocked within the time period of your trip.

Business Debit Card Customers

An increase in fraudulent activity in the states of Tennessee, South Carolina, Georgia and Florida has led us to block signature based transactions and only allow PIN based transactions on business debit cards. If you anticipate traveling to any of these states, please confirm your PIN number is valid on your card to avoid any declines on purchases.

Please accept our most sincere apologies for any inconvenience you may encounter.
